The New Wave

The New Wave is Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s first single as Daft Punk. I don’t exactly know what they picked that title The New Wave back in 1994. I always thought that it was the beginning of their experimentation with synthesizers and drum machines. A big difference from their old rock band Darlin’, the new group went from being “A bunch of daft punk” to an original cult house phenomena. They’re not as known as I wish they can be, but their music is known all over the world in many different forms (google People Sampled Daft Punk). I’m in for my own new wave.

I hate the question :”what do you want to be when you grow up?” No one knows what they want to be when they grow up.

City Designer

When I was 2-7 years old, I wanted to be a city designer. I loved travelling with my family, and I’d observe everything I see out the window. I used to draw lots and lots of pictures of what I saw on the road, and developed a system of remembering where I was when I couldn’t read signs, by looking at the design of the streetlights and how the distinguishing designs could tell me what city or state I was in.

When I was about to enter the 2nd grade, my father had discovered that I had a really good sense of direction and began using me for directions. I expanded on this by reading maps of many different places. At that point, I was interested enough to read about cities in encyclopedias. In 2nd grade, I made a 3D model of southern New Rochelle and when I thought my teacher was going to take it and throw it in garbage, like any other child with random distractions during class, she showed it to the 6th grade teacher. He admired the accuracy and the spelling of the street names (LOL, Huegenot Street). At that point, I WANTED to design a city so badly. I began taking lots and lots of paper, and in my basement, I designed the city that is now the setting of my future Project: Hellfire story. It is through my love of Geography that World History is my favorite subject

Comic Book Writer

Ironically, I didn’t read too many comic books in my day, but I guess the medium was the most feasible for me to release my ideas. I used to watch a lot of Action cartoons. Abundantly, I watched Dragon Ball Z. It was such a simple plot, but I was so hooked to it. All I wanted to was make an action series of my own, that’d I’d be able to anticipate on Toonami at 5PM every weeknight. One day, my dad bought me a Dragon Ball Z Manga. I LOVED IT. It was the inspiration that answered my needs. I should draw comic books.

Sadly enough, I couldn’t name any of my characters or scenarios in the 2nd grade, so my friends and I decided that I settle with Fatman. Like Dragon Ball Z, it had it’s simple plot with hardcore action and humor, that kept my audience entertained.

Computer Animator

Computer Animation would be my next step in making my dream of a homebrewed series a reality. I was in 3rd grade when my older brother was taking Web Design classes in his senior year in High School. What caught my eye, was the program he used for making animated clips, Macromedia Flash. Flash was the simple vector graphics program, that had become the internet’s most used plugin for sites, such as YouTube and MySpace. He suggested that I learn it in 3rd grade, so that by the time I become a senior myself, I’ll be ahead of the game. Frankly, I think I let that slip in the more recent years. So, I began experimenting with Flash in the dawn of 4th grade, and began producing short cartoons, whether it was Fatman or some other stupid idea that came to mind. Inspiration grew from the Flash Portal site, Newgrounds.com. I didn’t expect to hold onto Fatman forever, as I was determined to work on a new series, but when I had shown a Flash video of mine as part of a career project in 4th grade, the popularity of Fatman, obligated me to continue making more. As the years went on, my skills developed, and my love for making living things on the screen were stronger than ever. I began to lack the drawing styles I wanted, and called people in for comission. It was in 8th grade that I finally put Fatman behind me and work on the current “Project: Hellfire.”

Programmer

Programming had always fascinated me, because it proved to me that anything in the world was possible, and it was my job to go out there and pursue what I want to do. It began as small games, but moved onto websites, in which my brother encouraged me that it was a profitable idea to move onto the web itself. It was at this moment, that I registered a domain name. But as closer as I got to making anything possible, a rift formed, and I grew very nervous about my future

Politician / Entrapeneur

Both my father and my brother are business managers, and I, myself loved the idea of balancing a budget. Ever since I began making comic books, I wanted to manage a company that would handle all of my creative assets, along with many other people’s awesome ideas. This is where WarSyndicate comes into play and this is what I dedicate most of my free time to. After being an entrapeneur, I want to run for some political office, that defended my strong belief in conservative values, and run a community with the enthusiasism I have over my dreams.

Musician

Now, I took 2 music classes in gradeschool, and did average in all of them. It wasn’t until 8th grade, that I said that my plans for High School would be to look into music. I lack the resources and the money to buy conventional instruments to start a band, but that wasn’t necessary when I grabbed a copy of FL Studio and began composing music, in the style of my favorite electronic group, Daft Punk.

I like Daft Punk, because they make music look soo easy (especially with sampling). They approached me as the kind of guys who knew how to have the most fun in playing with instruments and still make a swell discography. In April of Last year, a friend of mine and I formed the group we named Elektroskeptic, which took on the idea of music without a real genre or specific style, much like Daft Punk. In one year, we managed to accomplish ourselves in making 30 tracks, with about 5 that appealed to some audiences.

Acting

I never wanted to be an actor, and I still don’t, though people suggest I should try it. Well, I tried it in freshmen year, and in 2 years, I produced one of the largest fanbases I ever had for something I contributed to. It seems to be the only thing I’m unenthusiastic about, but can have a breakthrough and keep my audience entertained.

——————————

Now, I’m a mess with what I want to be, and the best I can do is see how I can put them all together, but I noticed that in everything I did, something came out of it unintentionally. It goes to show that the greatest things in your life are the accidents. Though I haven’t made a long term achievment that exists as a trophy in my room, I know that I’ve done soo many, and I have no regrets having the experience. Maybe, I could have one of those activities as a life career. Perhaps, they can all mold together like I want them to. Maybe, I could be the President of The United States. I don’t think so. I don’t have enough pre-requisites in any of these fields. Maybe, I should be a professional trier.
